Egg Yolk Polyclonal Antibody Development
Egg yolk polyclonal antibodies account for a very interesting alternative to rabbit polyclonal antibodies. Not only it allows to obtain 5 to 10 times more antibody than rabbits, but also they are especially interesting for the phylogenetic distance to human, murine and more generally mammalian proteins. This type of antibodies usually generates less background than rabbit polyclonal antibodies when used in applications involving mammals and sometimes allows to get higher titres than with a mammalian species.
Standard protocol:
- Peptide design (free of charge)
- Peptide(s) synthesis or recombinant protein production
- KLH Conjugation (or any other carrier) if necessary
- Collection of pre-immun eggs
- Immunizations of one hen for 70 days
- Collection of 10 eggs
- Delivery of 30 ml of IgY prepared by ammonium sulphate precipitation of the egg yolk
- Other option : Affinity purification against the antigen or IgY specific purification
NB : As the development of polyclonal antibody is custom made, we can adapt our protocol to any situation or specific needs in order to better suit your required specifications.
